This weekend my house turned into a hostel while hosting 4 guests, plus my boyfriend. That makes 8 people sleeping in a two bedroom house with a cheap fold-out couch. At first I thought the idea was crazy to take on, but it ended up being a fantastic weekend. We had a feast with leg of lamb, Dr. Seuss-esque purple mashed potatoes (made from actual purple ones), salad, garlic bread and fruit. For desert there were chocolate chip cookies and bourbon (in honor of our two visitors from Kentucky). Most of the weekend was exploring downtown, cooking together and sitting around the table with games and good conversation. There was also a short photo shoot with a handful of fake mustaches and lips that I have. They were made by the first family I took photos for (a family that is quite awesome in life and through a lens), and they were kind enough to give them to me for future family portraits.
I know that this weekend will be the best one for a long time, due to the tidal waves of homework and art projects that will commence in the next 24 hours. I'm sad to see it end, but making plans to see these same people in the next few months makes my heart happy and ok with sitting in art history class tomorrow. I'm not going to post any of the photo shoot up for the sake of privacy, but I'm itching to take some more photos using them. When I do, I'll put them up immediately :)
Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
He's a man truly worth celebrating, so please don't overlook him in the next hour and 10 minutes of the day! Sit back and think about what he's done, and have a listen to this. Night loves.
Yeeeah, Amy! I love your blog already. I had such a great weekend... and I dont know if you've heard, but i love purple mashed potatoes.
