Meh.
I feel a sore throat coming on. My boyfriend woke up with one as well, meaning there is no escape for me. This is me drinking echinacea tea. Hoping it will do the job so many Ashevillians rave about- make the sickness go away. I'll keep you updated. That look on my face is me wishing it were something stronger. Which I will most definitely need by the end of the week. I've got oodles of photo assignments, a photoshop project I'm not understanding, and two papers to begin; one is an 8-10 page myth... which I'm looking forward to... the other is about Minoan somthin' or another. To be honest I don't even know what we talk about in class, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person in the class with this problem. The professor is a bit old and crazy AND a hard grader. Those are never good combinations. That paper will be set aside for now because I am clueless. Speaking of clueless, I've had the strong desire to watch Clue. One of the best movies ever? I think so. Photos will be coming soon I promise. School, like usual, has gotten crazy.
And now, Andy Warhol eating a hamburger. Enjoy this truly artistic performance... that's sarcasm. But hey the hamburger looks good!

paintpaintpaint
At the moment I'm painting a picture for my best friend. It's really getting my creative juices flowing and making me really miss painting on a regular basis. I've been going through old pictures and found a few of old paintings and mix medias I made in high school. So, since I have no new photography, I'll post these if you'd like to take a gander. And of course, here's a lovely song to go with it.
And here's a self portrait after a year and a half of eating UNCA's cafeteria food:
Bazinga! I kid.
Night darlings!

I'll be up up and away
I've had this song stuck in my head, so here ya go:
Also, here are a couple of unedited photos of behind the scenes of shooting DogTale. They aren't exactly behind the scenes, just moments when they wanted to mess around. But you can't be mad at them, they're all so cute. It was a jolly good time. You can see their music HERE!

DogTale Photoshoot!
My brother's band is about to kick off and wanted a few photos for their CD. Here are a couple that I took yesterday. It was a pretty ridiculous shoot. More to come later!

Champagne and Dance parties
I can't say no to either of these. Especially when my old roomie Erin is crashing on your couch for the weekend. A trip to Cracker Barrel, a pop of the champagne and the turning up ridiculous dance music were necessities last night. Oh yes. And those mustaches :)
Now back to buttloads of homework so I can go to the beach next weekend!

Old Photos
With no classes today, I'm still being lazy in bed and listening to music. I'll use my day to catch up with homework, including shooting at least one more roll of film. Taking both a film and a digital class this semester has gotten me super excited. I've been reading my camera manual like a nerd.
Here are some photos I took in the intro class last semester. And a purdy song.
:)
Powdered donuts from Krispy Kreme are like crack to me.
(Fake cockroach)
In a bar in Boone
My favorite place in the whole world. Summit Coffee.
Where my grandfather's buried. He has quite the view.
Have a lovely friday!

It's warm? What?
For the past couple of days here the sun has been out, and dare I say it's been kinda warm. I know the warmth is a tease and the freezing temperatures and cold wind will be back soon, but it really makes me miss summertime. Everything lovely happens when it's warm.
It also brings out some hidden surprises
During warm weather I worked on a farm
And played with adorable kittens
I would stare out at a gorgeous view with horses on the side of an Asheville mountain
And having the opportunity to live in the same city again for a short while. And do nothing but spend time with each other.
I'd like to go back here again.. ASAP. I will get on google and begin planning a beach trip the minute I'm done here. Maybe it'll warm me up.

Some warm weather makes you do crazy things, such as the heat wave last year. Exhibit A:
It also brings out some hidden surprises
During warm weather I worked on a farm
And played with adorable kittens
And held fuzzy balls of cuteness and watched them grow
I would stare out at a gorgeous view with horses on the side of an Asheville mountain
And give Zorro all the attention he wanted
And watch bumblebees hard at work
But I miss my friends the most
And having the opportunity to live in the same city again for a short while. And do nothing but spend time with each other.
I'd like to go back here again.. ASAP. I will get on google and begin planning a beach trip the minute I'm done here. Maybe it'll warm me up.

Food!
I love food. Who doesn't? My favorite thing is going out to eat, or ordering chinese or pizza with good company. Or watching a movie with a bowl full of Cheetos or pita chips. Writing out grocery lists get me excited. I'm about to go to a store that is 95% food! How could I NOT be excited?? Sauteing veggies is a hobby, and making cupcakes or cookies is the best thing to do when procrastinating on schoolwork. And don't even get me started on coffee and tea. It's the highlight of my weekend. I used to be a picky eater, but once I started trying things, the world opened up to me. If I didn't have my fantastic metabolism, I'd be obese. Lately I've been noticing that, even though I love food, I don't really savor it. If I'm hungry, and it's good, it'll be gone in just a few minutes. I want to learn to sit back and really enjoy
what I'm tasting, and look at food as an art.
I recently did my first food photo shoot, which I've heard by many that it can be very tedious and boring. I spent weeks on google and reading through books on how to make food look its best, and it turned out to be a difficult challenge. It was also quite a thrill. I got to get in the action inside the kitchen, as well as photograph the finished product and the interiors of the restaurant. Although the lighting wasn't my best, and it was certainly tedious, there was nothing boring about it. Taking photos of food sounds pretty sweet to me, especially since I was told I could eat whatever I wanted when I was done with each dish. The food was delicious and the employees were incredibly kind to me, I highly recommend the McNinch House Restaurant if you are ever in the Charlotte, NC area. It's expensive, but you will not be disappointed in the food or the service.
Perhaps I'll start photographing some of my meals. Maybe I'll appreciate and savor them more if do. If I end up doing this, I'll post them up. Now all this food talk is making me hungry...
P.S.- Does anyone else find Anthony Bourdain incredibly attractive?

Fake Mustaches and Purple Mashed Potatoes.
This weekend my house turned into a hostel while hosting 4 guests, plus my boyfriend. That makes 8 people sleeping in a two bedroom house with a cheap fold-out couch. At first I thought the idea was crazy to take on, but it ended up being a fantastic weekend. We had a feast with leg of lamb, Dr. Seuss-esque purple mashed potatoes (made from actual purple ones), salad, garlic bread and fruit. For desert there were chocolate chip cookies and bourbon (in honor of our two visitors from Kentucky). Most of the weekend was exploring downtown, cooking together and sitting around the table with games and good conversation. There was also a short photo shoot with a handful of fake mustaches and lips that I have. They were made by the first family I took photos for (a family that is quite awesome in life and through a lens), and they were kind enough to give them to me for future family portraits.
I know that this weekend will be the best one for a long time, due to the tidal waves of homework and art projects that will commence in the next 24 hours. I'm sad to see it end, but making plans to see these same people in the next few months makes my heart happy and ok with sitting in art history class tomorrow. I'm not going to post any of the photo shoot up for the sake of privacy, but I'm itching to take some more photos using them. When I do, I'll put them up immediately :)
Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
He's a man truly worth celebrating, so please don't overlook him in the next hour and 10 minutes of the day! Sit back and think about what he's done, and have a listen to this. Night loves.
