The Cooking Adventures of Amy Ellis

My whole life people have joked that I would never become domesticated. Now that I'm in my 20's, I've realized that joke may actually be a reality. Last week, I put the wrong soap in the dish washer before leaving the house. My brother came home to find suds spewing out of the edges of the washer. Go me. If I had been born 80 years ago I'd be a reject. BUT the one thing I can actually do is make dessert. Especially fudge. This weekend I went home to celebrate my mom's birthday, so I thought I'd give cupcakes a try. They actually didn't turn out too bad, but it was interesting getting to the end product. And of course I photographed it!

Eco-friendly baking cups!

Gooey mountain of chocolaty goodness. Did I mention that I put too much water in? I had to make at least one mistake.

Thinking I had it all figured out, I started to stir the contents with a wooden spoon. After about 5 minutes of no progress, I realized I should probably read the directions.

And AH HA! A mixer! Whoo me!

Pour in super cool baking cups.

Bake for 20 minutes at 350. And get bored and take pictures while waiting.

Stand in awe of chocolaty mounds as they cool.
And let mom make the icing from scratch since it's always better than the store brand.

Put icing on cupcakes and....

Bam. A nice bunch of delicious cupcakes.
But it needs a candle for a birthday. I found these in the cabinet that I bought months ago for a 21st birthday. They're quite cute.

And then eat all of them.

Happy Birthday Madre!
